Advice...unsolicited

Very few people ask for my advice. They are really missing out. All of this is about to change.

Park at The Parking Spot

So a bit of practical unsolicited advice, for a change.

Park at the Parking Spot.  This goes right along with some future advice (go on vacation all the time).

To start with, riding in a cab to LAX is a guaranteed way to put you in a bad mood for your trip.  The traffic, the ticking meter, the Designer Impostor cologne.  Not worth it.

Asking a friend for a ride to the airport might SEEM like a good idea, but somehow the reciprocal ride requested from them always turns out to be pre-7AM.  No amount of “thank you” pounds of Dunkin Donuts coffee returning from the east coast makes that ok.

Car service being less of an option these days, the clear answer is to drive yourself.

At one point, my affinity toward The Parking Spot at LAX was normal-ish.  The shuttle was frequent and smelled clean, bottled water was offered, and they have a customer rewards card (I just love loyalty programs).

BUT THEN I made two discoveries that turned my normal affinity into a slightly abnormal obsession: coupons and In N Out.

Coupons:  There is always a coupon available to The Parking Spot online.  Seriously.  Always.  It’s usually 20% off.  This makes my Extreme Couponing mind blow.  I get a little stressed about which section of my coupon file should be home for this coupon (Automotive? Misc.?), but it’s a super easy File>Print so I try not to freak.

In N Out:  Parking Spot:  I’m about to blow up your spot.  The Parking Spot on Sepulveda is right next door to In N Out.  Right.  Next.  Door.  Let’s be real: diets are for people that aren’t about to board a flying death trap.  This is the best thing that has happened to aviation since touch-screen drink ordering.  Let me blow your mind even further…even if you got to the airport some other way or have an LAX layover: The Parking Spot Sepulveda Shuttle is basically a free bus to In N Out.  I’m sure this isn’t “permitted,” per say, but for all the free olfactory benefits provided by In N Out to Parking Spot (at least half the people that park there were drawn by the smell of french fries), it’s the least Parking Spot can do.

So park at The Parking Spot.  Any business that provides coupons and free roundtrip transportation to In N Out is a business worth supporting.
